I wanted to wait for a week to see how things are before I let you know about our pups. We are thrilled to report that these pups adore each other! [As you can see in the photo] Claude is now 4 months old and Dolly was 8 weeks old when we picked her up from you a little more than a week ago. Our 9 year old lab Quincy has been a wonderful big brother and only gets involved when he worries that Claude is being rough---which he never actually is. We have had zero aggression from any of our dogs.
From the moment we brought Dolly home this has been hilarious! These dogs adore each other. They sleep together, play together, and only are separate to eat. Dolly saw the vet on her second day with us and was found to be 100% healthy and happy. She weighed in at a perfect 9 pounds.
I am so happy and blessed to have these wonderful pups. Bassets are loving, friendly, and smart dogs. We took them to the park yesterday and they kissed and snuggled with countless little kids who ran to meet them.
Thank you for all you do--for the care and devotion with which you raise these wonderful pups!

Hi, Dan! Just sending a couple of great pictures of our Lizabeth Anne (no longer a runt of the litter). First picture is looking pitiful for a treat and the second one is dancing with some friends to Rock and Roll (check out her ears)! Thanks for providing us with such a great puppy with personality plus!!. Lizabeth is a big star at her Daycare, Barkefellers in Indianapolis. They have used her for many pictures on their website. You are right about her hair coat. The coloring is beautiful and the coat has always been so shiny...just like her personality plus. Blackie and Samuel Long Ears would be very proud! Best wishes always to you and your family,
Hi Dan. Louise P here. Nice to meet you yesterday. Just wanted you to know how well adjusted this little sweetheart of a puppy is. She confidently met her new home, explored and made herself at home. And my little 18 mo old granddaughter?... the puppy follows her around like she's the Queen of England. Quite a cute pair. She's a beautiful addition to my new life. Thanks, you've raised a lovely puppy...
2 days later.....Dan. I absolutely love this precious pup.
I just wanted to let you see two of your pups. The one on the left is Daize Mae from your March 16, 2016 litter. She is a big girl and still growing. The one on the right is Hank from your July 7, 2013 litter. He was the runt, but has grown nicely. They are buds. They are great companions. Thank you for two great pups.
Hi all!! We too picked up our pup: one of Lemon Drops boys. He is wonderful and our Claude is sweet and smart! Dan does an amazing job and I'm now on the list to give Claude a little sister soon! We live in Laporte an hour away so are very lucky in that once we picked our pup Dan was so wonderful and allowed us to visit weekly! This is truly the best way to get a beauty of a pup who is so smart and healthy!
Thanks again Dan!
From Rhode Island:
Hi everyone! Wes, I can not agree with you more! My boyfriend Casey and I picked up our lemon and white male pup yesterday morning and drove all the way from Rhode Island (14.5 hour drive) we're making our way back tonight and our little guy has been amazing in the car for such a young pup! You can tell these puppies are cared for and treated the absolute best at Dan's farm and knowing we have a very happy and healthy pup made this whole experience worth while! The professionalism from start to finish really makes this place and family great, especially with the constant updates and weekly pictures with us being so far away, really helped us in the process!
I hope the rest of you get your babies home soon and love them as much as we love our Rocky!
Hi everyone. My name is Wes and we got two boy pups from Redbud and Samuel. We picked them up today since we are only an 80 minute drive to Dan's farm. The dogs are wonderful. Healthy and happy. Playful, clean and beautiful. Our whole experience dealing with Dan was pleasant. Hopefully we've made a friend for life. I know you'll all love your new babies. Ours are Charlie and Oscar.
I would love to have your address so that my mom and I can send you the deposit! I'm so excited to pick out one of your gorgeous hounds! I've heard nothing but amazing things!
Just wanted to update you on our puppy. Took him to the vet and she is quite impressed with the little fellow! He is doing great with our other basset. He has a great disposition, is socialized and learns rapidly. We are so pleased that we found your website. You mentioned that you've been raising bassets for a long time. It shows as you raise quality dogs. Thanks for all your tips and suggestions. Will keep in touch and let you know how things are going and will recommend you to anyone who is searching for a puppy!
It is hard to believe that it has been almost a year since we picked up our puppy. I thought I would share some pictures of “Eddy Joe” who was the green collar puppy from Flicka 7/20/2105 now that he is a year old. He is now grown up and has become a large part of our family. We unfortunately lost our big yellow lab to cancer in April which was difficult for Eddy a month or so.
By the way he is all boy and certainly ornery. One thing he did learn from our lab before he passed away was how to play fetch. Eddy is our 3rd basset and the only one that ever played fetch. In fact he will until your arm goes numb from throwing something.
Amy N from Indiana: ( In memory of Lola - 2016)
It is with heavy, heavy heart that I write this. My husband doesn't understand why I felt I needed to contact you but I felt I needed to. Our wonderful, sweet, adorable Lola died in a tragic accident this week. We have always had a pool and have always been incredibly careful but this one time the gate got left open and the rest is a horrible nightmare that I won't soon get past.
I have had many pets over my 56 years but none, absolutely none wrapped around my heart like she did. I guess I am so grieving her that I felt I needed to let her whole family know. You were her first family and in spite of this horrible loss I am ever grateful that we met you and found our sweet girl. I guess I hoped that in some way it would help me if you knew and knew how much I loved her.
All of the pets I've lost in the past died of old age or of an illness after many years. I never dreamed of losing one just shy of her first birthday. She brought me more joy in her short life than I can describe. Losing my baby so tragically is unbelievably heart wrenching.
I hope you will understand why I needed to let you know.
I'm trying to remember only happy times but my heart aches for her. Our other dog really bonded with her and seems so lost.
Thanks for raising these pups who bring such joy to everyone they meet.
You don't have to respond to this, I just needed to tell you.Our dear Lola was the best pup ever. She loved everyone and everyone who met her adored her. I have never been around a happier dog with any better disposition. That is what makes this so hard but also will eventually help us all heal as we remember all the joy she brought us and the many pictures and videos we have of her.
Indiana, In October of 2015
I just had to update you about our Lola! She is an amazing pup!! She is now in her crate in the kitchen with the big dogs and sleeps from about 9-6 am! She NEVER messes in her crate! She loves my grandson Max as you can see above. They are constant play mates. Lola is doing remarkably well on her housebreaking! This is our best ever puppy experience and we love her to pieces! She is very social and visits my mother and her dog, my daughter's dog and loves to go the the vet. We are so blessed to have found you and her!
Sunday evening puppy pictures were a real treat for us. We wanted to thank you by sending a few of Nelson at his new home.
He is so sweet! Only 1 accident! We noticed in your pictures that there was a carrying crate in with the pups, I think it helped in making Nelson be comfortable with his crate, he acts like its his place (which it is), thank you!
Thank you, we really appreciate all the work that you put into making Nelson a great puppy!
Heather and Kirk
Sunny is on a 2 week trip with us. He is doing great. Lola, our 10 year Basset has warmed up to him after a few day's of adjustment. He has quite the personality already.
Tony & Maryjane
The entire vet’s office went berserk over the two puppies you shipped us Thursday. They took many pictures and are featuring them on the Vet’s web page.
The pups are too cute and too much fun.
You do a great job. I hope you breed dogs for years to come.
We will be back!
Dan H. in Michigan
I hope you are doing well. I wanted to send you some pictures of our awesome puppy Murray. We love him to death and he is the star of the neighborhood.
Fran From Illinois:
I just wanted to take a minute and let you know that Elmer is doing great! He had a great vet checkup. No worms, of course, and the vet said he was a great looking puppy and a fine example of the breed. He said you were the kind of breeder he wished every pup he saw came from. He has fit right into my Grandson's life. His little brother (7) and sister (4) love him to pieces. They play so hard together that sometimes Elmer puts himself in his crate for a nap. He has been house training like a pro. Dylan has been very conscientious about taking him out and he has done extremely well. My daughter and son-in-law have always had boxers and love that breed, so I was surprised when she told me that he was "just the perfect little guy". Tonight they sent me a picture of him lying halfway out of his crate, fast asleep. He loves going for rides in Dylan's Bronco, and he always greets you with lots of kisses. I will gladly recommend you to anyone that is looking for a Basset. We couldn't be any happier with Elmer. Thank you again for all your communication and the pictures every week. It helped Dylan to be patient waiting for him. I received his papers in the mail earlier this week, thank you for sending them so promptly.
Here is a copy of this year's Christmas card. Hank is on the right. He was the runt from the 7/7/13 litter. Love him more and more every day.
Have nice holidays.

I thought you might like to see how Daisy has settled in with the Kinsey's. We absolutely love her. She is beautiful and has a great personality. Thanks for breeding great bassets!walking through the woods and finding peacefulness at night.
Writing to report that in just 3 1/2 days, it is clear we have an award winning beautiful basset boy puppy from your farm again!
From the car ride home, we thought Lenny was special, but now we know for sure.
He immediately took to our 3 yr old basset, Seymour, watching his every move and falling right in line :) They seem in love!
He hasn’t had an accident in the house, happy to report :)
He sleeps after only a few whimpers when put in the cage at bed time. Only wakes up once in the middle of the night, pees and goes right back to bed.
He plays beautifully. So alert and happy.
First vet appt yesterday was an A+ report!!
Seems to good to be true!! We love him so much already and can’t wait to see him develop as a member of our family!!
Thank you so much once again! You do a beautiful job raising and socializing your puppies!!
Shari and family
From One Of Our Basset Hound Owners In New Orleans:
Hey Dan, I just wanted to let you know that she has arrived and is safe and sound!! Thank you so much for her, she's gorgeous!
Basset Hound Owner From Michigan
I just wanted to let you know that we had a wonderful time today meeting you and bringing Henry home. He is doing so well. He is one of the sweetest puppies I have ever seen.
Also, I just love Mojo and the December female that you were keeping from him for future breeding. Please keep me updated on any puppies from him or any solid reds from Mojo. I just loved him and I would have bought the red female on the spot if you weren't keeping her. If you ever decide to sell her, which I know you're not, but I would take her in a heartbeat! :) I just love her and can't get over how sweet and beautiful she and her father are.
I look forward to seeing you again some day, and thank you again for my mother's perfect puppy and for the wonderful work that you do. I am going to be adding you to our breeder board at my vet's office. Every person that considers a basset should be coming to you.
(3 days later)
Took Henry into work at my vet's office, and the doctors said he was perfectly bred and healthy. I already knew he was, but I wanted you to know that we have two veterinarians that said he was exceptionally well bred and healthy. :)
Have been wanting to let you know how much we love our little boys! Rocky (red and white) and Ace (all brown) do EVERYTHING together and are getting along very well. Jon took some time off work at first in order to establish a routine and that helped a lot. We are now in our weekly work-and-weekend routine and the pups are growing like weeds. The vet says they are in fine shape - 13.4 and 12.4 pounds.
Just wanted you to know that we are a happy Basset family .
I have attached a pic.
Thanks so much and keep up the good work.
J & L
We made it home safe with the pup! She slept most of the way. We named her Cinnamon!! She slept 4 hours last night in her crate with little to no fuss, went potty then slept 2 more hours. She has had no accidents...she is just a doll! Sleepy little thing!! Thanks so much.
It has been several months since we picked up our puppy. I wanted to again say thank you for all the fine work you put into your dog breeding business. My wife and I spent several weeks researching for a good Basset Hound breeder, from Wisconsin to Ohio and we decided to get a puppy from you based on the quality of your facilities, the quality of your adult males and females, how you treat the dogs and how they behave. All dogs were happy, well fed, healthy and well behaved. The indoor facilities (nursery) where the female dogs were caring for the new born puppies did not even smell!.
Attached is a picture of the boy we bought from you. The picture was taken on January 7th, the day of his birthday. His name is Chorizo and is registered as Chorizo Asturiano, which is a sausage from Asturias, the Spanish region where my wife is from. Dan, we have owned many pure breed dogs: Bichon Frise, Collies, Giant Schnauzers, Great Danes. Among all the dogs we have owned, our Basset Hound stands out as one of the most active, elegant, friendliest and healthiest. He is fantastic with kids and teenagers. And we are not surprised given how caring his mother (Darcy) was and how elegant his father looked as he ran through the fields. What can we say, we are so happy to have him and wanted you to know it.
Dan, we wish you continued success and a Happy New Year.
Ricardo R. V
Thank You Shari From Illinois for the picture of your sweet Lenny! He looks so happy!!!
This Just IN! This happy family sent us an update on one of our Bassets.
This happy customer loves her new Basset Hound Puppy!
One Of Our Happy Customers Just Placed A Puppy
Dan, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your call last night
about our puppy. I knew 2 1/2 years ago that I wanted a basset hound
and after talking with you at the time, I knew I wanted one from you.
We really enjoyed meeting you and all of your dogs on Monday. It just
reinforced that we had come to the right place. I love how laid back
all of your dogs are which I'm sure is the result of good training.
I especially appreciated their friendliness and the fact that they
seem so happy to be members of the Sandy Hill "production team".
Again, thank you so much. Happy New Year.
P.S. Remind me to ask you how you keep your troops from barking. That
is truly impressive!

Letting you know Ferris Drooler is doing just great. His arrival weight was 10.4 on the 18th of December. His weight as of the 9th is 16.8. Was advised by my vet service that his health is perfect. He got shots and vet was wondering if he was given kennel cough meds. Ut was checked on his forms, but no sticker, Will forward updated pictures shortly. WE CAN NOT BE HAPPIER!!!!

I just wanted to give you a quick update on the pup you sent to me. She is doing very well and has a great personality. She loves my 4 year old female chocolate lab and they play together all the time. she was hesitant on the snow here at first, but now she loves to go out and wander through the yard. We named her Remy about three weeks ago, and she is already learning her name. She is such a character and my family is completely in love with her. I attached a picture of her trying to get the lab up to play with her. I will send more pictures as we get some good outdoor ones when the season warms up.
Just wanted to tell you Charley is doing great! She's had a great appetite today and has been very playful and just fitting in great with the family. We love her so much! Thank You
Just wanted to let you know we made it home just fine. The puppy did very well. We named him “Jerry” . Our labrador, Katie, is doing very well with him. He already follows her up the ramp to our deck (still working on going down). Our vet was pretty impressed with him and said he was a very nice puppy. He weighs 6 pounds 14 ounces. Wish we could have spent a little more time visiting with you. You have a very nice place. Roger and I along with our vet will highly recommend you if we hear of someone looking for a basset. Thanks so much. We will keep in touch.
Hello! Just wanted to drop you a line to let you know how things were going with the female Basset Hound pup we purchased last summer. Her name is Roxie Jo Lynn and she was the daughter of Roxie. She has been trained to do all sorts of tricks. She has been house-trained from very early on. Besides being gorgeous in her coloration, etc. She is a fantastic companion for my two girls, 8 & 10. Excellent health from day one, as well. She is definitely a handful and takes a personality as big as hers to let her know who runs the place! But anyone willing to put in the time, patience, and love will be more than pleased with any of your beautiful Bassets! Thank you so much and much luck with your next group! Warm Regards- Sandee, Steve, Carissa & Eva
Our Customers send us an update on their new puppies from time to time and it is our pleasure to provide you their feedback regarding our Basset Hound puppies.
I wanted to let you know that our baby Toby is as precious as can be. He is so smart. He has great problem resolution. Once he sets his sights on something he will figure out a way to get it or to get there. He is a very funny baby.
As you know he is 9 weeks old now and he is already going to the door and wining to go out. Now sometimes it is only to play w/his brothers but he seems to be getting the message.
We have taken him to the vet and of course all is well. Our vet asked how we keep getting such beautiful and well bred dogs, I explained where we got him from and he is amazed that we drove all the way from Mississippi to Indiana to get a puppy. I told him that there is no other breeder that I would even consider getting a dog from. He stated that he wished there were more breeders like you.
With Otis being 2 1/2 years old and now with Toby, the vet stated that he may have to make a trip to Indiana to get a pup.
Thank you again for breeding the perfect specimen.
The vet wants me to put Toby in the show ring. He stated that he is just that perfect.
If anyone ever needs to know what kind of pups you have please don't hesitate to give them my name & number.
You are the best
Thank you again
Another customer letting us know how the Basset Hound how one of our great dogs are doing at home with their family.
I just wanted to give you an update on Ellie Mae. She was a Tri-Color from your 3/06/06 litter last year.
My brother-in-law is a veterinarian and he was very impressed with Ellie.
He said that he does not see puppies with that many worming and he also said she was a very good looking
Basset. (By the way she did not have any worms)
I have had Ellie for 8 months now and I wanted to let you know that she is such a good, happy dog. She makes
me laugh all the time. I have been very fortunate that my next door neighbors come over every day and let her
out. In the summer she stays out in the yard for 2 or 3 hours and then they let her back in. She loves her crate, usually she goes in
her crate each night at about 9pm and when I go to bed I close the door. She has been house trained since the 1st of November and
has been off of puppy food for a few months. She is about 55lbs. Hopefully she will stay close to this weight.
Since she was 4 months old (when she had all her shots) she has gone to the dog park to play. Ellie loves the dog park.
She has the perfect personality ,very playful but if a dog seems aggressive she is submissive right away. She is very happy and never stops running for about 2 to 2 1/2 hours when she gets tired. She also goes to Camp Bow Wow (Doggie Day Care) every Wednesday were she plays all day. I watch her on a web cam. I go bowling
on Wednesday night so when I pick her up she goes home eats dinner and walks directly into her crate. She is out for the night.
She also goes to Dapper Dog every 2 or 3 weeks for a bath. She is still not fond of bath water but she is starting to calm down for the
girls there. Every thing went very smoothly with her. She is a very good dog. In the nicer weather we go for walks every night which
Ellie loves. We also have a 4 year old male Basset that lives on the block who comes down to play with her regularly. Needless
to say we are both happy. I am planning to take her to the Basset Waddle this year.
I have thought that I might want to purchase a male from you some time in the future. I am still
thinking about it.
Have a great day.
Thank you for my sweet little dog.
We adopted Lexi at the end of May in 2007. My husband and I had just bought a house and we were looking for a dog to complete our home and we decided we wanted a female Basset Hound. We called Sandyhill and there was one pup left , a female. We chanced the 1-1/2 hours one way trip and fell in love with our "Lexi" on the spot. We met all the dogs in their family and everyone was champion quality and the environment was perfect for the Basset breed. We have been so pleased with Lexi as a family pet that we decided to adopt again and we are awaiting the arrival of our newest addition "Lola" from Sandyhill. Thank you Dan!

Dan, I just wanted to say Hi. Bentlee is now 1 year old. He weighs 53 pounds and is beautiful. He is such a sweetheart, and wants to be a lap dog. He is well mannered and would not hurt a fly. I have been checking your website and have not seen any puppies. Are you still breeding? I sure hope so and I will want a puppy in the next year or so.
Thanks again, Tracy
Dan, she is doing so good we just love her and enjoy her. Thank you. She is so sweet and very spoiled. It was a pleasure to meet you and if anyone I know wants a Basset I will definitely send them your way. All the best to you. ;) Brenda/Jeff
